Mel Parker
Mel graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1989 as a Second Lieutenant in the Field Artillery and served as a forward observer, a fire direction officer, a battery executive officer and as division assistant logistics and support officer with the 319thAirborne Field Artillery in the 82ndAirborne Division. During his service, Mel also attended Airborne School, Ranger School, Jumpmaster School and Airborne Operations School. Mel is also a combat veteran (Operations Desert Storm/Desert Shield). Captain Parker transitioned from the military in to the corporate world in 1994.
After leaving the military, Mel embarked on 20+ year journey in corporate America working for some of the most prestigious organizations in their industries. Some of the positions held include – President of North America(Brinks), Managing Director of North America(Aggreko), Vice President and General Manager of North America – Consumer/Small Business (Dell), Vice President Sales and Marketing – North America (Newell Rubbermaid), Vice President and General Manager of US Commercial Business (Corporate Express(Staples)), Gatorade Business Manager, Strategic Account Manager and General Manager (PepsiCo). In the roles as President, Managing Director or General Manager, Mel has been responsible for successfully leading high performance teams of multi-billion-dollar businesses with up to 14,000 employees.
Mel has delivered leadership expertise through panels, seminars and keynote addresses, with a special focus on: Inspirational/Servant Leadership, High Performance Team Leadership, Transformational and Change Leadership and Crisis Leadership.
Mel currently serves on the Board of Directors for Vectrus (NYSE: VEC). Vectrus delivers global infrastructure, IT and logistics services primarily to the Department of Defense. Mel formerly served on the Executive Advisory Board Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Central Texas.
