Team Red, White & Blue Runners to Attempt World Record with 3,000 Mile Old Glory Ultra Relay
Twelve-person Veteran team raising funds to meet organization’s $1 million fundraising goal
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Feb. 19, 2025 – Twelve runners representing Team Red, White & Blue (Team RWB) – America’s leading health and wellness community for the military-connected community – are set to attempt a world record when they run the first-ever Old Glory Ultra Relay. The 3,000-mile cross-country relay will see the Veterans make history by carrying a single American flag while running 7-8 minute miles nonstop from San Diego, Ca., to Washington, D.C., beginning May 2.
The event is designed to conclude at the National Mall at the site of the future Global War on Terrorism (GWOT) memorial. The U.S. Census Bureau estimates over 3.7 million Veterans served in the Global War on Terrorism in post-9/11 war operations in Afghanistan and Iraq.
"We believe that Veterans can lead this nation out of the physical and mental health crisis we are facing, and that's why the Old Glory Ultra Relay is so important to us at Team RWB," said Col. (Ret.) Mike Sullivan, Chief of Staff of Team RWB. "This relay is a reminder of what Veterans are capable of. Our goal is not only to inspire a nationwide movement that gets Veterans back on their feet, prioritizing their health, but also to remind this country what service is all about and what we're really made of."
Local Activations
Along the way, rally stops hosted in partnership with CAT dealers will bring local communities together to engage, celebrate, and reflect on the significance of this monumental effort. In addition to the May 2 relay launch at the USS Midway Museum in San Diego, local activations are planned along the relay route for HOLT CAT in Little Elm, Texas, Riggs Cat Equipment in Springdale, Ark., Thompson Machinery in LaVergne, Tenn., Carter Machinery in Salem, Va., and the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
In addition to celebrating the community, the Old Glory Ultra Relay is also a major fundraising effort, with a $1 million goal to support Team RWB's mission. Funds raised will enable the organization to continue providing impactful in-person and virtual events, training, and programs that improve Veterans’ health and wellness. In 2024 alone, Team RWB engaged more than 22,500 Veterans and Service Members through the Team RWB Member App and provided more than 19,400 in-person and virtual opportunities to build healthy lifestyles.
