Overview
8 days of Trekking the Alta Via 1 Route
The Italian Alps - better known as the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site has brought hikers from all over the world to experience glacier carved peaks and valleys, panoramic views, and the “Enrosadira" or alpenglow effect, where the rocks turn reddish at sunrise and sunset.
This Eagle Expedition will cover 5 total days on the Alta Via1, or the “high walk”. It translates beautifully. Eagles crossing the pond for this Expedition should expect daily treks of 12 miles with 5,000’ of elevation gain. Even with lighter and smaller packs, it’s still a lot of movement, and it’s going to require significant training to be ready for these rugged mountains.
Unlike most Eagle Expeditions that include multi-day trekking, this experience will provide lodging in the world famous “rifugious” - better known as a chalet with room and board. Meals will be shared family style with trekkers from all across the world. Lodging will be in shared bunks, similar to dormitories, or dare we say, the barracks?
So, what do you say to getting that passport stamped? Lace up those boots, check your trekking poles, and get ready to immerse yourself in the Dolomites.

“It was the jump start I needed which provided me with a sense of purpose and a mission. Health and wellness is something I have control of which doesn’t require someone else approval to do. This Expedition was an example of there isn’t a limit to what it is I’m capable of doing once I’ve set my mind to accomplishing it.”
