Team RWB engages veterans, supporters through functional fitness 1776 Challenge

Sun Outdoors to Serve as Presenting Sponsor for 2022 Event

Team Red, White & Blue (Team RWB) is hosting its fourth annual 1776 Challenge, presented by Sun Outdoors, a leader in outdoor hospitality. The epic 18-day functional fitness challenge, taking place June 17 - July 4, is an opportunity for participants to showcase their commitment to the men and women who served our country and support their well-being.

1776 Challenge participants will complete 76-100 repetitions of designated exercises each day. Demonstrative videos hosted by Team RWB’s members, advocates, and supporters including Yuengling ambassador and Army veteran Jason Wood and American decathlete Bryan Clay will be provided to registered participants through email and the Team RWB App. Each demonstration includes modifications and adaptive options for participants of all abilities.

“The 1776 Challenge, presented by Sun Outdoors, is one of Team RWB's landmark events, encouraging veterans and supporters to tackle 1,776 reps over 18 day--- leading into Independence Day,” said Mike Erwin, Executive Director of Team RWB. “This event is designed for maximum flexibility: it's accessible for people of all abilities, on their own time, and wherever they live. By accepting this challenge, participants help to strengthen our health and wellness community that is enriching veterans' lives!"

To join the challenge, veterans and supporters are invited to register at teamrwb.org/1776. Participants who make a donation to Team RWB will receive a 1776 Challenge patch as a gift with donation. Random prize drawings will be offered by Team RWB’s partner, Valor Fitness for participants who check-in through the Team RWB App. Prizes include Valor Home Gym Kettlebells, Valor Home Gym Bundle, Wall Balls, Slam Balls, and Speed Ropes. Other prizes include Road ID bracelets and TRX Home Systems.

“The partnership with RWB is extremely important and means a great deal for everyone at Sun,” said John McLaren, President & COO of Sun Communities, Inc. “Their values and goals mirror many of the same ones that we strive to achieve every day at our company, and that’s the basis for a successful partnership. Veterans played a vital role in helping to ensure the freedoms we now experience in our everyday lives. The many events that RWB puts on to aid in the physical and mental well-being of these veterans serve a tremendous purpose, and we are proud to partner with them on these initiatives. We look forward to the upcoming 1776 Challenge and doing our part to make it an event to remember.”
