5 Strength Training Exercises for Endurance and Mobility

Are you capable of lifting heavy and carrying a load? Will you be able to do it years from now?

Physical strength, endurance and mobility are essential to aging well and always being mission ready.

Prepare yourself for any challenge by incorporating these five strength training exercises into your routine.

  1. Deadlift. The deadlift is a great whole body strengthening exercise. Deadlifts help build stronger grip strength, core strength, and bone density. They also help boost metabolism and improve your posture.

  2. Burpee. We love burpees. Why? It’s a full-body workout that’s both cardio and strength. The burpee strengthens your core and helps improve your mobility, posture, and balance. No equipment needed. It’s a great fat burner, too.

  3. Power Cleans and Snatches. This full-body movement strengthens your arms, shoulders, back, legs, and core. Power cleans and snatches also help improve coordination, balance, and cardiovascular fitness.

  4. Dead Hang. Hanging on a bar is a great way to improve grip strength. It also strengthens your shoulders and lats. Dead hangs can also help improve shoulder mobility which helps reduce shoulder pain. You can also do lat pull-ups and kips to add some movement.

  5. Squats. If done regularly, the squat can help keep your back, hips and knees functioning properly as you age. This movement can also produce power, build strength and elicit a neuroendocrine response.

What’s your favorite strength training movement?
