Foothills Trail

8-15 NOV 2025 | Oconee and Table Rock State Parks (NC/SC)

Near Greenville, SC

Overview

The Foothills Trail is the Appalachian Mountains best kept secret. At 76 miles long, this thru-hike offers challenge, stunning waterfalls, mountain vistas, and the opportunity to achieve a cumulative elevation gain/loss of over 30,000’ over the course of the trek.

The Blue Ridge Mountains are ancient, rugged, and teeming with wildlife. Trekking in November will offer plenty of chances to see wildlife like black bear, turkey, and deer as they prepare for winter. This trail and the mountains it traverses begins and ends at either Oconee state park or Table Rock state park, as it weaves between North Carolina and South Carolina. To the north and west, the Blue Ridge and Great Smoky Mountains; to the east and south, the rolling piedmont of the southeast.

While the trail does not achieve the high elevation found in other parts of the Appalachians, this terrain is shaped by over 6 feet of annual rain and is the home to dozens of mountain streams and rivers. In many cases, the only way out is through. This trail should not be underestimated.

This Expedition will feature two groups, each starting at each other’s end points. The groups will plan to meet halfway for a team lunch on the trail where trail beta and high fives will be shared, before continuing on the second half of the trail. Guides will facilitate conversation on the trail and around the campfire to insight thoughtful reflection amongst the group.
